Eastern Michigan University mens’ golf team participated in the Colleton River Collegiate at the Jack Nicklaus Course on March 8.The Eagles finished in 11th place with a season-low tally of 876 (294-295-287), in a field that consisted of four top-45 teams, with Georgia State taking the win with a 30-under 834 (278-282-274).
Teams that also finished in the top-5 featured Cincinnati who placed second (843), Kansas State in third (844), Ohio State who finished fourth (847), and Michigan State in fifth (849).
Eastern Michigan University, senior Ty Celone earned his 23rd career top-25 finish after closing with a one-under 70 to earn a 215 score (71-74-70). That mark is tied for his lowest 54 hole tally of the season, which equaled his previous outing at the Wexford Intercollegiate, Feb. 21-22.
Sophomore Cam Kellett added an EMU-best score of 219 (76-71-72) to place 35th, while classmate Max Watson tied for 44th with a score of 221 (71-75-75).
Senior Cougar Collins produced scores of 76, 75, and 74 to equal a 225 for 56th place, while fellow senior, Zack Mason, finished the day with scores of 71, 76, and 71 for a tie for 66th.
The Eagles return to action on the course, March 14-15, for the GCU Invitational located in Phoenix, Arizona.
