Eastern Michigan University womens' tennis fall short to Cleveland State University, 4-3

Freshman Sabina Brichackova remains perfect as she improves to 4-0 after an individual win

The Eastern Michigan University womens’ tennis team took on Cleveland State inside the Chippewa Club on Thursday, Feb. 10. It was a hard fought match between both sides, concluding in the Vikings claiming a narrow victory over the Eagles, 4-3. 

EMU started the match off hot, clinching double points with wins at the No. 2 and No. 3 spot.
Seniors Luisa Pelayo and Grace Whitney garnered a 6-4 victory at No. 2. At No. 3, freshman Sabina Brichackova and Prerna Vichare dominated in a 6-1 win. 

In singles, Brichackova notched another win as an Eagle at the No. 4 slot, 3-6, 6-2, 6-4. Brichackova remains undefeated in spring action with an overall record of 4-0. Redshirt senior Vasari Ganesan recorded additional victories for Eastern Michigan University at the No. 6 slot, defeating opponents 6-3 and 6-0. 

Next up, Eastern Michigan University travels to Chicago, Illinois for a double header against UIC and the University of Chicago on Friday, Feb. 11. The matchup between the Eagles and UIC will start at 9:30 a.m. CT, while the match against the University of Chicago will start at 5 p.m. CT.
