As a child, I never imagined that one day I would be able to take part in the unique experience of studying in the USA. Being a student who graduated from high school in Saudi Arabia, I had no clue what to expect from the culture at Eastern Michigan University.
The first thing I noticed was that being a college student in America, specifically at Eastern Michigan University, provided great opportunities to learn, improve my skills, and make new friends. Academically and professionally, students at EMU have access to a wide range of useful programs that I have loved learning about. Students can seek assistance from math tutors, the writing center, and advisors at all times. In Saudi Arabia I had to suffer on my own and do everything by myself , but not anymore.
Secondly, a few words about the Americans I have met. I have observed that people here are extremely kind and respectful; regardless of your religion, race, or appearance. In particular, I enjoy the friendliness of EMU students and their lack of rudeness, which makes me feel at home. In addition, professors are considerate and make sure students don't feel stressed too often. Even when I was going through the worst, my professors were there to help me.
Last but not least, life in the US is easier in general because people are often by your side, willing to help when needed. Being an EMU student makes it a whole lot easier, even if there is a lot of good and bad about being a student in the US.
