Police in search of suspects following armed robbery in Ypsilanti

Police are still in search of three armed robbers following an incident on Sept. 24 involving a Boost Mobile store and hours of negotiation at an Ypsilanti apartment complex.

Three armed robbers are still at large after robbing a Boost Mobile store in Ypsilanti, and escaping from police on Friday, Sept. 24.

Police responded to an armed robbery on the morning of Sept. 24 at a nearby Boost Mobile store that had been robbed by three armed subjects, the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. The suspects fled the scene before the police arrived.

The police tracked the suspects to the Aspen Chase apartment complex at 2960 International Dr., according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. the incident then transitioned into a barricaded suspect situation.

SWAT was forced to make an entry into the complex after hours of crisis negotiating, according to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office. Once inside, they found no suspects in the apartment, however, evidence of the robbery was found.

"No arrests made yet,“ Derrick Jackson, Director of Community Engagement for the sheriff’s office, said. “We are still investigating, reviewing evidence, interviewing any witnesses, and working to identify and apprehend those responsible."
