Kamryn Stilwell, a sophomore defensive specialist for the EMU Women’s Volleyball team, was awarded MAC Player of the Week after the Eagles matches against Miami of Ohio on Oct. 14 and 15.
Along with the MAC Player of the Week award, Stilwell was also named to the Academic All-MAC Team in 2020.
Stilwell recorded 46 digs in the two matches against Miami, averaging 5.75 digs per set.
This is the second time Stilwell has been awarded MAC Player of the Week, and she said she was happy and surprised that she was chosen.
“As a team we still have a long way to go and we’re growing each and every day as individuals and a team, so I’m looking forward to the potential we could get to by the end of the season,” Stilwell said.
On Wednesday, . 20, the Eagles took a tough loss against Central Michigan University, losing 3-2. Each match was close in score, match one being 25-18 CMU, match two 25-20 EMU, match three 25-19 CMU, match four 25-19 EMU, and match five 15-7 CMU. Stilwell played all five sets and had 25 digs and one assist. She is the leader of the team in digs, with 378 this season so far.
“It’s a big accomplishment for me to be MAC Player of the Week but I couldn’t have done it without my coaches and teammates. I wouldn’t have been able to even get this opportunity if it wasn’t for my coaches pushing me each and every day to be better,” Stilwell said. “Especially my head coach Darcy, for her believing in me even when I didn’t believe in myself."
