Armed robbery occurs at Happy's Pizza in Ypsilanti Township, employee held at gunpoint

An armed robbery took place at Happy's Pizza in Ypsilanti Township; no arrests have been made.

Police are investigating an armed robbery that occurred at Happy’s Pizza on Washtenaw Ave. in Ypsilanti Township. The robbery took place Tuesday, May 12, in the afternoon around 1 p.m. Police were notified shortly after.  

According to Mlive.com, the suspect jumped over the sales counter and pointed a gun at an employee. The suspect then went on to steal an unknown amount of money from the cash register and subsequently fled. The employee was uninjured. Currently, no arrests have been made according to police.

This is the second armed robbery in Ypsilanti Township this week, beginning Sunday, May 10. Another armed robbery had been reported at the Speedway gas station on Michigan Ave. on Monday, May 11, a day before the robbery at Happy’s Pizza. A suspect stole money from a clerk according to the police. Washtenaw County Sheriff's Office spokesman Derrick Jackson said these two incidents are not necessarily connected, as was reported by Mlive.com.
