While being stuck in the house isn’t very fun, you can always brighten up your day with some good music. From soft pop to R&B and rap, there are tons of artists still coming out with new music during this scary pandemic. Here are a few of my recommendations to add to your quarantine playlist:
After Hours by The Weeknd: This R&B artist has just released his fourth studio album titled After Hours, in which he discusses his usual topics including drugs and sex, as well as revealing a more emotional side. The LP is reminiscent of some of his early mixtapes, increasing the likability for original fans, but also mixes in the tones of his more recent work, providing a little something for everyone. This project is great to keep you level-headed during this somewhat anxious time and sets a perfect chill mood for you and your lover.
“Levi High” by DaniLeigh ft. Dababy: This feel good song has been on repeat ever since it came out on March 13. The two artists pair perfectly for a fun tune great to dance around the house to. Along with the single, they released a short-film like official music video too, containing a plot where the two complete a money heist together. Sad about being stuck in the house? This video is sure to get you hyped up and take your mind off of the craziness.
Kid Krow by Conan Gray: 21-year-old pop singer Conan Gray displays his character and shares tons of personal moments on this debut album. Most of his music makes people nostalgic about their teenage years, as that is the theme in the majority of his lyrics. Young love and heartbreak is something that Gray can relate to you on. The mellow songwriter vibes of this LP are great for feeling contempt with the simplicity of chilling at home
“OK” by Wallows: This indie-rock band put out a new single with an official lyric video to go along with it. The track talks about insecurities while in a relationship, but can also relate to what’s going on in the world today and just remind you that everything will be “OK.”
“Lento” by Lauren Jauregui: If you are fluent in both the Spanish and English languages, or simply love music of different cultures, this new song is for you. While this former Fifth Harmony member has yet to debut her first solo album, each single she has blessed us with has been beautifully done, and “Lento” is not an exception. Jauregui is definitely one of my celebrity crushes and her beauty in the video for this song makes me fall even harder for her. Whether you’ve listened to her music before or not, anyone can enjoy it’s soothing and comforting feels.
It can be hard to stay calm during times that are out of your control, but listening to good music can get your head in a better space. All of this new music released in just the last couple of weeks, breeds positivity and is full of good vibes. If you haven’t felt like yourself through this unusual period, remember to get in your daily dose of music.
