Film Reels - The Oscars

Review: Classic and glamorous looks dominated the Oscars

The Oscars' red carpet was stellar this year. It was an enjoyable experience to see classic and glamorous looks take center stage.

Unlike the Grammy Awards red carpet, the red carpet for the Oscars had many stand-out looks this year. There were countless great ensembles to choose from.

Here are my Best Dressed Women:

My first pick is Renee Zellweger in Armani. She looked like a classic movie star and had me captivated from the moment she stepped onto the red carpet. She won Best Actress for her role in "Judy," and this is the kind of dress one should be wearing when they win an award. Fashion moments like this are the reason I fell in love with award shows and fashion. Simple moments that are done right are almost always my favorite looks on the red carpet.

My second pick is Mindy Kaling in Dolce & Gabbana and Chopard jewelry. The yellow gown was elegant yet not stiff. It was nice to see a pop of color on the red carpet, and Kaling wore it well. This is another gown that became my favorite the second she came on the screen. It’s always a good feeling when the evening brings amazing looks right off the bat.

My third pick is Regina King in Versace and Harry Winston jewelry. Blush or light pink gowns were a major trend this year on the red carpet, and King looked wonderful in this color. King is usually one of my favorites with her red carpet looks. She did not disappoint with her gown this year.

My fourth pick is Brie Larson in a Celine gown and Bulgari jewelry. She also went with the pink trend, and it was stunning. It’s fabulous to see such classic looks on the red carpet - ones that aren’t boring and remind me of old Hollywood glamour.

Here are my Best Dressed Men:

My first pick is Leonardo DiCaprio in Armani and Christian Louboutin shoes. It was simple, but it worked well for him. I love his choice in shoes. Since I have always loved Christian Louboutin shoes for women, it’s awesome to know Christian Louboutin makes men’s shoes as well.

My second pick is Rami Malek in Saint Laurent by Anthony Vaccarello. I love the suit jacket and wish I could have it in my closet. This is a look where it’s not over the top by any means, but there is an edge to it that gives it something extra.

My third pick is E! News Correspondent Brad Goreski in an Alexander McQueen tuxedo. It was one of my favorites of the night because it had flair but was not too much. As you can see with the fashion choices I love, I generally go for more classic looks.

With award shows basically over, it’s sad to think the red carpet season is coming to a close. Winter is my least favorite time of the year, but award shows make it more tolerable. This was a wonderful red carpet to watch and a great way to end the season.
