The Eastern Michigan men’s basketball 2019-20 schedule was released on Aug. 26. The Eagles will compete in 31 games in the upcoming regular season, excluding the MAC Tournament.
Out of the 31 games, 15 games will be held at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti. Much like last season, EMU will also compete against a number of non-conference teams. Three of those matchups will be against teams that competed in the 2019 NCAA Tournament.
Eastern Michigan will face off against four 2019 NCAA Tournament teams: Buffalo, Michigan State, Northeastern, and UC-Irvine. The Eagles will play Northeastern and Buffalo at the Convocation Center. Meanwhile, the matchups against Michigan State and UC-Irvine will be on the road for the Eagles. Eastern will look to jumpstart momentum with three straight home games to start the year. The season will tip-off against Siena Heights on Nov. 8, with games against Goshen College and UM-Dearborn following on Nov. 12 and Nov. 14.
After the three games at home, the Eagles will start their three-game road trip as part of the Jersey Mike’s Jamaica Classic. In the Classic, EMU will face the University of North Texas on Nov. 16 as well as UMBC and North Carolina A&T in Montego Bay, Jamaica on Nov. 22 and Nov. 24, respectively. Once the Classic concludes, the Eagles will then face UC-Irvine at the end of the month.
The first home game of December will be against Valparaiso on Dec. 3. Shortly after, EMU will play against the University of Detroit Mercy on the road. The Eagles will have a 10-day break before competing against Northeastern at home on Dec. 17. After matching up with Northeastern, EMU will travel to East Lansing to compete against Michigan State, who will likely be ranked in the top-five to begin the season.
The Eagles will stay on the road for their next game against UNLV on Dec. 28, then the team will head back home to play the last game of December against Concordia on the day before New Year’s Eve. The month of January will be full of conference matchups. There will be 18 conference games in January and will tipoff against Akron on Jan. 4. The 18-game conference slate will conclude on the road against Toledo on March 6. After the season, EMU will look to compete in the MAC Tournament which will start March 9.
