One of Hollywood’s greatest films returns to the big screen for its 75th Anniversary. Fathom Events, Turner Classic Movies and Warner Bros. Entertainment are bringing “Casablanca” to select theaters nationwide for a special two-day event. This film, starring Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman, has been the winner of three Academy Awards–best picture, director and screenplay–and nominated for eight. With these accomplishments, there’s no surprise that it has a 97 percent rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an 8.5/10 IMDb rating. For those who are unfamiliar with the film, it is a story of Rick Blaine, played by Humphrey Bogart, who owns a nightclub in Casablanca, Morocco during the early stages of WWII. When Ilsa Lund, played by Ingrid Bergman, walks through the front door of Rick’s club, he must choose between a life with the woman he loves and becoming the hero that both she and the world need. This 102-minute WWII based film manages to be both equally political and romantic, despite the odds. The closest screening of “Casablanca” will play on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 2 and 7 p.m. at Emagine Saline.
