The Eastern Michigan men's basketball team was unable to keep its win-streak going as it fell to Toledo on Senior Day,60-56, on Friday night at the Convocation Center.
Senior guards Willie Mangum and Ray Lee went a combined 9-30 from the field in their final home game. The duo combined for 22 points as fellow senior Ty Toney added 11 of his own in the, 60-56 loss.
"I thought we played pretty good defense throughout the game, our offense was staggering a lot of time, we didn't play play for each other or with each other," said coach Rob Murphy. "A lot of ill-advised shots that we took today and we can't do that."
James Thompson added another double-double to his resume with his 10 points and 14 rebounds. As a team the Eagles converted only 37.7 percent of the field goals attempted compared to the 45.5 percent by the Rockets.
Rocket guard Jordan Lauf dropped 17 points in the Rockets win while adding eight rebounds, two assists and two steals. Steve Taylor added to the in with a double-double of his own with his 11 points and 15 rebounds.
The loss followed a 109-81 win over Central Michigan where Lee scored a school record 50 points in a single game.
"The last two weeks we played pretty good basketball, particularly offensively and because of that it put us in position to win some games," said Murphy.
