The Eastern Michigan athletic department is planning to upgrade and renovate the athletic facilities and the renovation is set to cost $35 million.
Officials from the department have said that $9 million have been raised with $6 million coming from a single donor. The rest of the funds are yet to be determined for the project.
One of the plans for the changes includes the outdoor track at Rynearson Stadium to be removed. The new location would be around the soccer fields which will be re-adjusted.
The current football building where the locker rooms are is being planned to be destroyed and have a 70,000 square-foot indoor facility to be built. The facility will have a turf field inside and will be used for football and soccer. An indoor track and weight room is also planned to be inside the facility as well as multiple suites for football games.
A final building is in the works to hold the wrestling and gymnastics teams to move them out of Bowen and Warner. The building is set to be 22,000 square-feet.
