Campus Life will be hosting the 2017 Student Gold Medallion Awards on Tuesday, March 28 in the Student Center. This ceremony will be hosted during the week of excellence and features prestigious student awards. Light refreshments begin at 3 p.m. followed by the ceremony at 4 p.m.
Also on Tuesday, the Unity Mural Forum Project will be hosting a discussion titled “Future Aspirations” from 6 to 8 p.m. in the McKenny Hall Ballroom. This open discussion forum will give the campus community an opportunity to voice its thoughts concerning change and future aspirations for society at EMU that will be incorporated into a mural design.
On Wednesday, March 29 EMU will be hosting the 9th annual Cesar Chavez Day of Celebration beginning in Mckenny Ballroom at noon. The afternoon will begin with a luncheon featuring keynote speaker JoAnn Chavez, Vice President and Legal and Chief Tax Officer at DTE Energy. The cost is $50 and will include entertainment, award presentations and student spotlights.
Also Wednesday, there will be a student led learning experience located in the Student Center from 7 until 9 p.m. titled “Black and Pan-African Social Movements: Past and Present.” Students will cover African based information from the fight against colonialism to apartheid and discuss how alliances formed between Americans and Africans in support of social change.
On Sunday, April 2, NAACP will be hosting the 2017 IMAGE Awards in McKenny Ballroom at 7 p.m.
