The gymnastics team went into the their final event trailing the Kent State Golden Flashes, but a floor score of 48.975 helped the Eagles win in a home meet on Friday, Feb. 10.
The team kicked off the meet with a team score of 48.725 at the vault. Ciara Gresham set the tone for The Eagles with her 9.800 which tied a career high at the vault.
When it came to the bars, Catie Conrad set the tone with her 9.875 which put her in first for the event out of everyone competing. As a team, Eastern Michigan put together a score of 49.050 to hold the lead going into the beam.
At the beam, the Eagles put together their best performance of the season with a 49.000. Conrad and Kendall Valentin each set career highs when they both scored a 9.9 on the beam. Even with an improved performance, the Eagles trailed going onto the floor, 97.775-97.550.
When the team needed a boost to finish strong, it put together a 48.975 to secure the win against Kent State. This score tied a season high as the Eagles picked up their sixth win of the season.
The gymnastics team will now travel to Northern Illinois to face the Huskies on Feb. 17. Meet is set to kick off at 6 pm CT.
