The Akron Zipps hit 18 threes which led to the 87-76 win over the Eastern Michigan University Eagles at the Convocation Center in Ypsilanti on Friday night.
The Eagles (13-12, 5-7) won the rebound and turnover battles but were unable to keep up with the jump-shooting of Akron (21-4,11-1). Akron had five players in double figures as the Eagles could not stop the offense of the Zipps.
EMU guard Willie Mangum led the way with his 22 points, five rebounds and two assists. Forward James Thompson added 19 points of his own while also collecting 14 rebounds and the team's lone block.
Eastern Michigan now looks to end its losing streak when the team hosts the Ohio Bobcats at the Convocation Center on Tuesday, Feb. 14. Tip-off is set for 7 pm.
