Eastern Michigan men's swim and dive team sophomore, Jake Tyson, has been named the Mid-American Conference's Swimmer of the Week. This marks the first time Jake Tyson has received the honor during his swim career at EMU.
Tyson was the top point scorer, collecting a total of 60 points, during the EMU Invitational that lasted from Dec. 2-3. He had three relay victories, and a third place relay which put EMU in lead at the invite.
Tyson opened the weekend with a win in the 100 free, clocking in with the fastest time in the MAC this year. During the 200 free, Tyson also clocked in with the fastest time and first place. His final individual event was the 200 IM where he also clocked in with the fastest time again, making it his season- best performance. Tyson swam as the anchor on Eastern's first-place finishing 200, 400, and 800 Free Relay squads. His also had a third-place finish as the anchor of EMU's 400 Medley Relay that touched in with the third-fastest time in the MAC this season.
The EMU Invitational concluded final competition of the calendar year for Tyson and the Eagles Swim and Dive Team. The Men and women Eagles with return to the pool, Jan. 14, at home in the MAC dual action against Ball State at 1 p.m.
