Eastern Michigan University’s women’s soccer team closed Homecoming weekend with two straight victories in Mid-American Conference play. The Eagles scored two goals in the first half against the Falcons of Bowling Green State University while taking a total of 16 shots.
Early on in the eighth minute of action midfield senior Gabrielle Mancini received an assist from Sophomore Peyton Davis as she scored EMU’s first goal of the afternoon and took a 1-nil lead.
The Eagles would apply pressure on the Falcons defense before senior Ellie Tillar scored the second goal for EMU with 15 minutes left in the half.
Bowling Green cut its 2-0 deficit early in the second half with a free kick in the 49th minute strike from Falcon’s Maureen Kennedy. That would be the final goal that EMU would allow as the Eagles hang on their early first half lead and win 2-1.
EMU closed the weekend with a win against the Rockets of Toledo behind two goals from freshman Sabrina McNeill as the Eagles topped Toledo 2-1 in overtime. Rockets held the advantage in shots 8-6, but Sophomore Kaylin Williams made five save in the win. McNeill became the first player to score two goals in a game this season.
The Eagles close out their final four games with a two game homestead next weekend against Ohio University Friday, Oct. 14, before hosting Kent State for Senior Day Sunday, Oct. 16.
