Paul Fricano, Jordann McDermitt and Hylnur Anderesson were all named athletes of the week in their respective sports for their performances over the weekend.
Redshirt freshman kicker Paul Fricano was named the Mid-American Conference, West Division, special team player of the week. Fricano helped the Eagles defeat the Charlotte 49ers in the 37-19 victory. He was perfect in his performance as he made all three of his field goals and all four of his extra point attempts. This was his second time this season being named to the award.
Junior Jordann McDermitt was name the MAC runner of the week after she led her team to a first place finish at the Commodore Classic over the weekend. McDermitt came in third overall as she posted a time of 17:02.9. She led the team over two ranked teams in Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. Along with Fricano, this was McDermitts second runner of the week award.
On the men’s cross country team, redshirt junior Hylnur Anderesson led the Eagles to a second place finish at the Spartan Invitational and was awarded runner of the week in the MAC. Anderesson finished with a time of 25:00 to kick off his season which was the fourth overall time. This is Anderesson’s first runner of the week award of the year.
