- Trying to get an early start on the haunts and frights of Halloween? Wiard's Orchard is hosting Night Terrors, a haunted thrill park on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from Sept. 30 to Oct. 31. There are six haunted attractions at their location on 5565 Merritt Rd., ranging from hayride of the lost, alien caged clowns, the asylum, live action haunted paintball and more. Ticket prices vary based on the attraction.
- Wiard's Orchard also hosts a weekday and weekend country fair that offers entertainment such as apple and pumpkin picking, a petting farm, a corn maze, mini golf, a cider and donuts shop, paintball and more. The weekend fair opens at 11 a.m. on Saturdays and Sundays for $16.75 a person. The weekday fair offers less events but is $9.75 a person and opens at 10 a.m. on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays. The country fairs will continue to run until Oct. 31 and are held at 5565 Merritt Rd.
- Enjoy jazz music? Come join area professionals and members of the EMU Jazz Combos in full swing at the Tower Inn every Thursday night at 9 p.m.
- For those who enjoy chili or craft beer the Michigan Firehouse Museum is hosting a chili cook-off fundraiser on Sunday, Oct. 2 at 3 p.m. Chili will be prepared by competitors including Bona Sera, Sidetrack, Red Rock BBQ, Wurst Bar, Encuerto, Ypsi Alehouse, Cafe Ollie, Go Ice Cream, Beezy’s and the City of Ypsilanti Fire Department. Tickets can be bought for $12 online and guarantees 3 oz. samples of chili from each competitor and non-alcoholic beverages. Craft beer is also available for purchase at the event. The award ceremony will begin at 5:15 p.m. as participants cast a vote for their favorite chili in the People Choice's Category. Proceeds will go toward the Michigan Firehouse Museum & Education Center.
- The Depot Town Farmers Market will be selling a large variety of fresh fruits, vegetables and home goods with over 40 vendors attending the market. Run by Growing Hope, the market is being held at the Freighthouse Plaza at Depot Town from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. every Saturday.
- Growing Hope's Downtown Ypsilanti Farmer's Market is also being held every Tuesday from 3-7 p.m. on 16 S. Washington St. The market aims to support the local economy, develop downtown and increase access to fresh and healthy food.
- Take a stroll through Depot Town and check out over 100 vintage & contemporary bikes as motorcycles line Cross Street in Depot Town every Tuesday from 5:30-9 p.m.
