The highly anticipated trailer for Captain America: Civil War premiered to a packed crowd who gave overwhelming approval on Jimmy Kimmel Live Tuesday, Dec. 24.
Civil War will be the start of phase three in the Marvel cinematic universe and stars Chris Evans as Captain America with Robert Downey Jr. reprising his role as Iron Man.
The film will tell the story of an international incident involving Captain America and the Avengers prompting politicians to form a system of accountability to determine when to call in the Avengers. This divides the team into two opposing factions: one led by Captain America who wishes to operate without regulation and one led by Iron Man who supports government oversight.
Captain America: Civil War shows that this movie will be a fast paced, all out action movie. The trailer gave fans a sample and left them wanting more.
The highlight of the trailer filled with action and special effects was the debut of fan favorite, Black Panther played by Chadwick Boseman (best known for playing Jackie Robinson in the film 42).
A Black Panther standalone feature film is scheduled for released in 2018.
The next installment in the Marvel Cinematic Universe will arrive in theaters May 6, 2016.
