The Eastern Michigan University football team kicked off its most recent home game with a pep rally in the Convocation Center on Thursday.
The band played up-beat songs by artists like Bruno Mars and Megan Trainor while the Pompon Team danced along and the cheerleaders did routines to the music. Some routines included flips and lifts.
The football team made an entrance while the band played a welcoming song and the head coach, Chris Creighton, spoke a few encouraging words followed by the team captain thanking the 25 fellow students and parents who came out to support the team before the game.
The audience was filled with family and friends of the players and dancers, as well as a few EMU students who came to show school spirit. Near the end of the event, EMU’s bald eagle mascot made an appearance while the crowd chanted Eastern’s fight song.
