Police Blotter, Nov. 3

Monday, Oct. 26

A man was cited for having open liquor at 1:36 a.m. in the Marriot Parking Lot. The police officer noted the man was drinking and pulled over. The man, who was not an EMU student, was taken in a taxi and released on scene.

DPS assisted in an Ypsilanti Police Department case at 2:41 a.m. at the corner of South Hamilton. A motorist was operating under the influence of alcohol. DPS does not comment on Ypsilanti’s cases. The crime log says the case is pending action.

DPS is assisting the Ypsilanti Police Department in a burglary and entering without permission at 10:45 p.m. on West Cross Street. DPS does not comment on Ypsilanti's cases. The crime log says the case is pending action.

An Eastern Michigan University employee reported an assault at 6 p.m. outside Pray-Harold. Police said the employee was leaving the building when he was bumped by passing skateboarders. The employee and the skateboarders argued and the skaters left. DPS says there was no camera to record it. The case is still open.

Tuesday, Oct. 27

DPS found a parked car at 2:12 a.m. near Frog Island Park. An EMU student, who was sitting inside, was found to be in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia. He was cited for the paraphernalia. The Office of Student Conduct has been informed.

A desktop phone was reported missing at 10:25 a.m. from a Pray-Harrold classroom. DPS says the phone has been gone for several months now. The case is still open.

A window screen was cut at the Brown Apartments. DPS believes this happened sometime between 7:55 and 8:30 a.m. on Monday. Nothing inside the apartment was reported stolen. DPS is investigating.

A student in Hill was found to be in possession of marijuana at 5:12 p.m. DPS responded to a complaint about the smell. The case has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Wednesday, Oct. 28

A student's Higher One card was reported stolen and used fraudulently at 11:20 a.m. Having lost it in the Rec/IM, the student noticed unusual reported charges and money that was transferred out of their account. DPS is working with the bank to determine who used the card and when. The case is still open.

Two sewing machines were stolen between midnight, Oct. 20 and 9 a.m., Oct. 27 from Roosevelt. The case is still open.

A student was found in possession of marijuana and paraphernalia during a routine traffic stop at the corner of Huron River Drive and Oakwood Street. The case has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Thursday, Oct. 29

Two students were discovered in possession of marijuana by DPS at 5:43 p.m. at Cornell Courts. One of the students resisted arrest by trying to run away. Charges have been submitted to the prosecutor. The Office of Student Conduct is also looking at the case.

An intoxicated underage EMU student was taken was taken to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital from Rynearson Stadium at 10:33 p.m. The case has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Housing reported someone was using marijuana at 11:12 p.m. at Westview Apartments. Two students were found to be in possession. The case has been referred to The Office of Student Conduct.

Friday, Oct. 30

A wallet was reported stolen from a car at 12:48 p.m. The student left the car in a north campus lot at 9 p.m., Oct. 26, and returned at 12:48 p.m., Oct. 30 and the wallet was gone. DPS is reviewing camera footage.

A student reported a debit card stolen at 3:32 p.m. The student says their missing card was used to withdraw money. The case is open and DPS is tracking it through the bank to see who withdrew the money.

A student called police to make a false police report. She said that at 10:20 p.m a passing car drove by her at the corner of College Place and West Forrest and that someone opened a door and tried to drag her in. After some questioning, DPS said the student confessed that it was a hoax. DPS has submitted charges to the prosecutor. The Office of Student Conduct is also involved.

Saturday, Oct. 31

A student in Westview called DPS at 12:08 a.m. saying his roommate stole some of his “personal items.” DPS have not yet contacted the accused. The Office of Student Conduct was notified.

A man was pulled over at 12:10 a.m near the corner of St. John Street and Lowell. The non-EMU student was arrested and taken to the county jail. The suspect had a blood alcohol content of over 0.17%, according to the EMU crime log. Charges have been submitted to the prosecutor.

A student was found to have marijuana and pipes in Phelpsat 12:47 a.m. The case has been sent to the Office of Student Conduct.

An EMU student was taken to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital at 2:08 a.m for over-intoxication. The minor has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

Four underage students in Downing were caught in possession of alcohol at 2:14 a.m. The case has been referred to the Office of Student Conduct.

A man, who was not an EMU student, was pulled over in a traffic stop at 3:10 a.m. at the corner of LeForge Road and Railroad Street. DPS discovered marijuana, a BB gun, an imitation firearm, and a synthetic narcotic which DPS identified as pills. This case is open.

A non-EMU student was given a ticket by police at the corner of Washington and St. Paul Streets for being openly intoxicated at 10:30 a.m. The subject was on foot.

DPS was called to the Marriot Parking Lot at 11:27 p.m. A satellite navigation system was stolen from a car and there are no suspects. This is believed to have happened between 2:45 p.m. and 11:27 p.m. that day. The case remains open.

Sunday, Nov. 1

DPS noticed a car had been broken into and that car's navigation system was stolen. This was recorded at 12:25 p.m. DPS is investigating.

DPS responded to a disturbance at 1:35 p.m in Best Hall. An EMU student was found to be excessively drunk. She was taken to St. Joseph’s Mercy Hospital by ambulance. The Office of Student Conduct is now involved.

A non-EMU student was cited and ticketed for driving under a suspended license and possession of drug paraphernalia during a routine traffic stop at 2:09 p.m.

Three vehicles, all belonging to members of the same choir group, were keyed at Westview Apartments between 6 p.m. and 9:30 p.m. Oct. 18. All three reported the incident at 6:09 p.m. on Nov. 1. The case is still open.
