An EMU student was pulled over for a traffic violation near the corner of Huron River Drive and LeForge Road. This has been turned over to the Office of Student Conduct.

DPS officers recognized a non-EMU student at 4:01 p.m. Thursday at the corner of Hamilton and Emmet. They arrested him for a bench warrant for failing to appear in court and cited him for possession of paraphernalia.

A EMU student reported at 5:24 p.m. that their car was keyed in Green Lot 1. This is believed to have happened between 4:00 p.m. on Nov.14 and 4:00 p.m. on the Nov. 15. DPS is reviewing security camera footage.

Student Housing reported the smell of marijuana at 8:57 p.m. in Phelps Hall. When DPS arrived, the students had already left.

DPS was called at 10:07 p.m to Hoyt Hall because of a disagreement between two former roommates that ended in assault. DPS said it is submitting the case to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor for charges against one of the students.

Tuesday, Nov. 17

Patrolling DPS officers investigated a suspicious vehicle at 12:20 a.m. in the parking lot of the Marriott Hotel on South Huron Street, Friday, at 12:20 a.m. They found two non-EMU students in the car. DPS said a "cloud of smoke rolled out of the windows" when they were opened. The pair was cited for marijuana and paraphernalia.

DPS rushed to Pittman at 12:46 p.m. Friday for a reported assault. An argument between two students led to one of them striking the other. The assaulted student said they do not want to press charges. This case is going to the Office of Student Conduct.

DPS was called to Munson for a “loud argument.” DPS determined that nothing chargeable had happened, but Student Conduct has been notified.

An EMU student from Sellers reported at 1:23 p.m. that their EagleOne card had been stolen and used fraudulently before they noticed it was missing. DPS is investigating the use of the card, at the Dinning Commons and reviewing camera footage.

A non-EMU student drinking on the sidewalk at 5:04 p.m., near the corner of Washington and Pearl was cited for public intoxication and open intoxicants.

Student Housing reported the smell of marijuana coming from a room in Pittman at 6:58 p.m. DPS found the student was also drinking in their room. No citations or charges are being pursued, but it has been turned over to Student Conduct.

A student in Westview called DPS for harassing communications at 11:27 p.m. This was over a series of text messages between the student and an ex-boyfriend, who DPS said was not a student. They concluded that the harassing text messages constituted stalking and have submitted charges to the prosecutor.

Wednesday, Nov. 18

DPS is acting on what it characterized in the EMU crime log as “aggravated felonious assault/family/strong arm domestic [assault]” at Pittman Hall. DPS says that an EMU student was choked by another student around 7:00 a.m. The victim survived but did not report it to the police. The victim told a third person, who called DPS at 12:52 p.m. When DPS found the victim, they had visible bruises on and around their neck. DPS took the victim to St. Joseph Mercy Hospital and arrested the offending student who was taken to the Washtenaw County Jail. DPS has submitted charges for review to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor. Student conduct is involved.

DPS pulled over an EMU student at 4:05 p.m. along Cornell Road after receiving a call that the student's 18-month-old child was not properly restrained in the car. DPS says this isn't the first time they have dealt with this issue with this same student. For that reason, they've submitted charges for review to the Washtenaw County Prosecutor. Child Protective Services has been called. Student Conduct is also involved.
