The Eastern Michigan University men’s team took third at the NCAA Great Lakes Regionals Friday November 13, 2015. This performance is the best the team has done since 2002 when they took second place and eventually took third and the NCAA Championships. The team scored 102 points while adjusting to the climate of the race.
Nick Raymond continues to show his talent, leading the Eagles with an eighth place finish and a time of 30:40.1. Senior Willy Fink would be the next Eagle to cross the finish line, coming in 12th place with a time of 30:55.8. Hlynur Andresson, Csaba Matko, and Lahense Bouchikhi would follow them, finishing 17th, 27th, and 38th with times of 31:10.8, 31:26.2, and 31:39.4. Mitch Lenneman and Abel Flores were the last ones to cross the finish line for the Eagles. They would finish in 56th and 134th place with times of 32:09.9 and 33:32.4.
The Eagles will now have to play the waiting game as they will see if they are one of the 13 teams selected for an at-large bid to go to the NCAA Championship Nov. 21.
