If you are looking for something to do over Halloween weekend that is different from the usual parties or gathering candy, then Youmacon might be for you.
Set in the heart of Detroit in the Renaissance Center and Cobo Hall, Youmacon is the largest anime convention in Michigan. Over 14,000 attendees packed both venues for last year’s event and if this year’s guest list and entertainment lineup is any indication, that number will only grow.
Youmacon 2015 will be taking place Oct. 29 to Nov. 1 and it is a 24-hour event. This means that panels, concerts, and much more will be running all day and night for all four days of the convention.
Special events only found at Youmacon include a concert by popular steampunk band, Steam Powered Giraffe, a Maid Cafe, Cosplay Masquerade and appearances by several Internet celebrities including LittleKuriboh and TeamFourStar. Voice actors from various anime series and video games will also be present to entertain attendees.
Pre-registration for badges on Youmacon’s website has unfortunately ended, but badges are still available at the door. A 3-day pass at the door is $60 followed by single-day badges at $30 for Friday, $40 for Saturday, and $20 for Sunday. Badge pick-up opens on Friday, Oct. 30 at noon and ends at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 1.
For those who did pre-register online, a pre-registration only badge pick-up will open on Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. until 10 p.m. There will also be time for pre-registered attendees to pick up their badges on the Oct. 30 from 11 a.m. to noon.
