The Eastern Michigan University men’s cross country competed at the NCAA Division One Pre-National Invitational in Louisville, KY on Saturday Oct. 17. In a talented field of runners, the Eagles put up a strong performance, besting No. 30 Texas and claiming 15th place with a total of 471 points.
The Eagles all finished within one minute of each other, being led by Nick Raymond, who finished in 49th place with a time of 23:56.0. Nearly three seconds later, Eastern Michigan runner Willy Fink finished in 52nd place. Behind Fink was Csaba Matko, who finished 110th with a time of 24:21.8. Behind Matko was Hlynur Andresson , who finished in 116th place with a time of 24:23.9. Lahense Bouchiki, Abel Flores, and John Knox rounded out the Eagles runners with times of 24:35.8, 24:44.0, and 24.46.6
The Eagles have a little bit of rest before heading to Dexter to compete in the EMU Fall Classic on Oct. 23. This will be the last race for the men’s cross country team before the Mid-American Conference Championships on Oct. 31.
