Is defunding Planned Parenthood really pro-life?

There is a desire across the nation, by people who do not use its services, to defund Planned Parenthood. While some states are slowly pulling funding from the organization, there has been rise in the Senate and House of Representatives in Washington, DC to decrease all federal funding of the organization. The reasons why Republicans want it to be shut down is solely due to the abortion services the organization provides and absolutely nothing else. Their stance seems to be that, because they are “pro-life,” they cannot support an organization that provides women with abortions they may very much need.

But is defunding Planned Parenthood really pro-life? Of course the organization is pro-fetus. They are protecting the life of an unborn human being. However, with the defunding of Planned Parenthood, there is the loss of contraceptive services supplied to women so they never have to have an abortion in the first place as well as loss of healthcare provided to children after they have been born, which may compromise their life. Defunding Planned Parenthood nationally may cause women to die, because every woman may not be able to safely bear a child and therefore may need an abortion so she can continue her life. Every person may not be financially ready to have a child, so abortion services may keep a young college student from having her life compromised because of a child that she cannot scrape enough money together to afford.

Planned Parenthood is more pro-life than any Republican in the House of Representatives because they provide options to people so they can have the best life possible. Not to mention that many women go to Planned Parenthood to seek prenatal care for the child they have every intention to carry to term and to care for as best they can.

Planned Parenthood does the extraordinary job of looking at the woman’s needs as well as the needs of the child that she may or may not want to have that people may not always be able to get elsewhere. Republicans who want to defund Planned Parenthood see pro-life as being the life of the fetus and are looking at just one color of the rainbow of resources that Planned Parenthood has been able to provide their patients with for a number of years. It is an organization that is matchless in every way.

Defunding Planned Parenthood is not pro-life. It is pro-fetus, until that fetus has become a person. After that, all the attention that went to that fetus turns to fairy dust.
