The Eastern Michigan University baseball team’s 2016 schedule was released today. Among the notable games are road series with University of Florida and Arizona State University, three games against the University of Michigan and a matchup with Michigan State University at Comerica Park.
Highlighting second year coach Mark Van Ameyde schedule is a matchup against Michigan State at Comerica Park in Detroit, Mich. on May 11.
"It is a great opportunity for the guys and the program to be able to play on a major league field. We definitely circle that date on the calendar as one we will really look forward to playing,” said Van Ameyde. “These guys dream of playing at that level and now they have the chance to do what they love in one of the best stadiums in the country. We very much appreciate the opportunity and we feel it's another indication of where our program is heading."
It will be the first time in Eastern Michigan program history that they play at Comerica Park.
Eastern Michigan opens up the season on the road in Lakeport, Ga in a three game series against the University of Nebraska Omaha on Feb. 19. They continue down south to Gainesville, Fla for a two game series against the University of Florida.
The Eagles then have a series against the University of Southern Florida and then a three game set against Arizona State University, who has made the College World Series the past three years.
The Eagles open up their Mid-American Conference schedule at home on March 25, 2016 against Bowling Green State University for a three game series.
The Eagles wrap up their season with a three game series against the University of Toledo on May 19-21.
In total, the Eagles will play 54 regular season games which includes 15 home games and 24 Mid-American Conference games.
