Eastern Michigan University's Small Business Development Center was named the Small Business Development Center of the Year for Excellence in Innovation Thursday, May 7.
According to a news release from the university, the award was given at the Michigan Celebrates Small Business event and honored Richard King, southeast Michigan regional director at EMU and associate director Wendy Thomas.
EMU'S SBDC is one of 12 regional offices in Michigan and serves Wayne, Oakland and Macomb counties. The center, located in the College of Business, works with small businesses by providing counseling, training and research. Such businesses include restaurants, consulting firms, manufacturers and staffing companies.
