The Eastern Michigan University Eagles baseball team (13-22, 4-8 MAC) was defeated on Sunday by conference foe Central Michigan University (24-12, 10-2 MAC) for the third straight time this weekend by a score of 3-1 completing the sweep in Mt. Pleasant.
Eastern Michigan starting pitcher Ryan Lavoie (1-4) was handed his fourth loss of the season. Lavoie pitched for two and one-third innings, giving up two runs on four hits, but earned four strikeouts on the afternoon.
Central Michigan University scored two of their three runs in the third inning when Logan Regnier tripled to right field and scored the Chippewa’s first run of the game. Regnier then scored from third thanks to a wild pitch that got behind Eagles catcher Tony DiLeo.
Eastern Michigan cut the deficit in half in the fourth inning when Mike Mioduszewski singled to left field, which allowed Jordan Peterson to cross home-plate and bringing the score to 2-1. The Eagles wouldn’t score again in the Sunday match-up.
The game would stay close until the eighth inning with Central Michigan’s Regnier struck again, reaching base on an error and allowing the Chippewa’s to add on another run. The game would end with a score of 3-1 and allowing Central Michigan to take all three games of the weekend series.
The Eagles finished the game with eight hits and had three players with one hit each. Mike Mioduszewski went 3-for-3 at the plate and earned the Eagle’s only RBI on the afternoon. David Lett went 2-for-3. Eastern Michigan stranded 10 men on base.

The Eastern Michigan University baseball team will travel to Bowling Green State University on Tuesday, April 14.The Bowling Green Falcons are 11-19 with a conference record of 5-7. Eastern Michigan defeated Bowling Green in their last meeting on April 8 by a score of 4-1.
