Mike Talley honored player of the Week

After leading the Eastern Michigan men’s basketball team to two consecutive wins this past week, the league office of the Mid-American Conference West Division announced EMU’s point guard Mike Talley player of the week for the second time this season.

The MAC West Division announced Talley’s award Saturday, March 7. The red-shirt senior will be the final student-athlete to receive the honor this season.

Talley had an average 19.5 points per game during the final week of the regular season, helping the Eagles to clinch the No. 8 seed in the 2015 MAC Tournament with an overall season record of 19-12.

The Eagle’s point guard scored an overall 16 points in the game versus Ball Street this past Tuesday, averaging 43 percent from the field; along with 23 points in the game versus Toledo, shooting 6-of-15 from the floor and 10-of-12 from behind the free-throw.

Talley has also managed to dish out 5 assist and steals per game, in addition of shooting an overall 19-of-21 from the behind line in both games.

Mike Talley holds an overall scoring record of 390 points this season, averaging 12.6 percent in shooting, 69.5 percent in free-throw shooting, and 4.2 percent in assists.

On Monday, March 9, Mike Talley, along with his teammates, will face Miami University once again in the first round match-up of the 2015 MAC Men’s Basketball Tournament. Tip-off begins 7:30 p.m.
