After double March 9 victories, Eastern Michigan University’s men’s and women’s basketball teams have both moved on to the second round of the Mid-American Conference Tournament. The teams play the second round in Cleveland, Ohio Wednesday.
The Lady Eagles were victorious over the Kent State Golden Flashes, 70-52. Sixth seed under third-year Head Coach, Tori Verdi, the ladies tied their all time MAC record, 19-19 out scoring the Golden Flashes 43-24 in the second half.
The ladies will face No. 7 Toledo at 2:30 p.m. at Quicken Loans Arena in Wednesday’s contest.
The men’s team defeated University of Miami-Ohio by one point in a tense overtime, 62-61. Through the majority of overtime and throughout the second half of the game, the Eagles kept the Red Hawks from scoring a field goal for over 13 minutes.
In Cleveland, eighth seed, EMU will face off against No. 5 Bowling Green State University. Tip off is slated for 6:30 p.m. at ‘The Q’ in downtown Cleveland.
Tickets for all tournament games held at Quicken Loans Arena in which EMU participates, are available through the EMU Ticket Office at the following prices:

- men's basketball: $34
- EMU students can purchase women's tournament tickets for $5 or men's tournament tickets for $10 with a valid student Idaho
Ticket order reservations may be placed online at EMUTix.com, by calling 734.487.2282 or by purchasing at the EMU table in the main ticket area inside the northeast entrance at Quicken Loans Arena.
Pre-ordered tickets will require a valid photo ID for pickup. Buying tickets for the men's games in advance is the only way to guarantee a spot in the Eastern Michigan fan section.
