EMU hosts second collegiate job fair

Editor's Note: A previous version of this report incorrectly stated that the collegiate job fair would be in Plymouth, Mich. It will take place in Livonia, Mich.

Eastern Michigan University will be hosting its second collegiate job fair this year in Livonia, Mich.

The Michigan Collegiate Job Fair is one of the state’s biggest job fairs and is a place for EMU seniors and alumni to make connections with over 100 employers.

“Employers also need candidates from all areas of liberal arts, particularly the government jobs, because these students and alumni have transferable skills. The good news is that we’re seeing an increase in the number of employers participating over the last couple of years,” Ebony Jones, senior corporate relations manager at Eastern Michigan University, said in a statement.

The Michigan Collegiate Job fair is a biannual event that seniors and alumni of Michigan’s two- and four-year colleges can attend. The event will be from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on March 20. More than 130 employers will be present at this event including:

  • Bronson Health Care Group
  • Coca Cola
  • General Electric
  • Pepsi Beverage Co.
  • Various State of Michigan and federal departments and agencies

“Many employers want to hire entry-level candidates with degrees in business, technology, engineering, human services and allied health,” Jones said.

Participants are encouraged to bring multiple copies of a resume and to dress business casual. Similar to the job fair in the fall there will be a ready room available for anyone interested in advice on their resume and attire.

The deadline to register for the event is March 18, which can be done at mcjf.org. Early registration is $10 while walk-in registration will cost $15.
