Which friend would you choose?

You might be asked who your favorite TV characters are and have a hard time coming up with an answer.

Many of us love to watch television and movies, so it comes as no surprise that the characters we love to watch on screen could make pretty good friends in real life as well. With so many shows to choose from, both live-action and animated, the possibilities are nearly endless.

John Pike, a criminology major, would want Thor to be his friend.

“We look similar and he would be cool to hang out with,” he said.

The choice is a good one considering that Thor is one of the world’s most popular superheroes and the movie “Avengers: Age of Ultron” is premiering this year as well.

Others prefer characters from more classic material.

Brandon Prater, a hotel and restaurant management major, says that Chandler from the well-known television series “Friends” would be someone he would like to know as he would never leave you without a chuckle.

Strong female characters aren’t left out either. Neha Bakshi, who majors in nursing and pre-med, selected Cristina Yang of “Grey’s Anatomy” as a character she would like to befriend because they think a lot alike and Yang would push her to do her best.

No matter the medium, fantastic characters exist that appeal to everyone, and thanks to the Internet and streaming services like Hulu and Netflix, it has become easier than ever to find them. Some episodes of television shows can even be found on YouTube and other similar streaming sites so if you cannot pay for your TV fix which may be a suitable option as well.

Next time you turn on the television or open your laptop to go on Netflix or Hulu, keep your eyes open for the ones you might want to be friends with someday. Even if they only exist on screen, they can still be wonderful companions.
