Student Senate Committees are made up of volunteers who oversee and handle Student Government’s affairs. These committees and members of the executive board deal with daily functions and functions as a whole.
The following committees meet biweekly:

Internal affairs
The Internal Affairs committee passed resolution 101-008 to change office hours for student government members. The resolution allows office hours to be completed between 8 a.m. and 6 p.m. This allows more flexibility for members to fulfill their office hour requirements.
Public Affairs
The Public Affairs committee is working on “The Weight of Our Words.” It will be an event held March 3 that will address how language affects different people.
Business and Finance
The following student organizations and club sports presented in the Business and Finance meeting:
The men’s lacrosse team received $2,350 to provide for meet expenses, equipment and apparel.
Students for Justice in Palestine received $437.96 for catering costs at their upcoming event.
Outbreak: Eastern received their request for $1,000 to purchase new equipment and rent rooms for their events.
The United Nations Student Alliance was granted their request for $4,500. The money will allow them to attend more conferences, including a full week in New York at the U.N. headquarters.
Delta Sigma Phi received $700 to fund Frozen Fall. The event is similar to Polar Plunge. All proceeds go to the Red Cross in Washtenaw County.
Mei Hua Tongxua Hui, also known as the American Chinese Student Association, received $2,110. The money will go toward catering and event costs for the 2015 Chinese New Year Dinner Show.
Information Assurance Student Association requested $2,110 to fund two of their competitions.
Academic and Student Affairs
This meeting was canceled.
The next Student Government Senate meeting will be held Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 6:30 p.m. in room 310A.
