The Mid-American Conference announced on Tuesday that Tyler Brown was Track Athlete of the Week and Dace Dreimane was Field Athlete of the Week.
Brown, a sophomore at Eastern Michigan University, ran the second fastest time in EMU history which earned him a second MAC Athlete of the Week honor.
Brown competed in and won the 400m dash in the Notre Dame Invitational last Saturday. He is a two-time MAC 400m champion and did not disappoint when he cut three quarters of a second off his personal record, winning in 46.26 seconds, putting him a second and a half in front of the other competitors.
Brown also competed in the 4X400m relay, winning in 3:10.04, the sixth fastest time in program history. He also competed in in the long jump, placing sixth with a jump of 6.82 meters.
Dreimane, an EMU freshman, earned her first MAC Athlete of the Week honor and her first accolade for the 2014-15 season.
She finished second in the triple jump and third in the long jump at the Notre Dame Invitational. Dreimane’s long jump ranks second in the MAC for 2015 at 5.83 meters/19 feet 1.25-inches. The triple jump matched the first place jump at 12.33 meters/40 feet 5.50-inches, but completed the feat on a later jump, leaving her in second place.
The Eagles will compete Friday at Mt. Pleasant against MAC rival Central Michigan University in a dual meet. The meet will begin at 5:30 p.m. at the Jack Skoog Indoor Track and Field Complex.
