EMU golf heads to Florida to drive in the spring season

Eastern Michigan University’s men’s and women’s golf teams will travel to Ranch, Fla., on Monday, Feb. 9, to kick off the 2015 spring season.

The women’s golf team will tee off in the Mid-American Match Play challenge hosted by Bowling Green State University. This event is tied for earliest spring season tournament and will take place at Lakewood Ranch Golf and Country Club, Fla.

Seven MAC teams will be competing in the two-day tournament including EMU rival Central Michigan University whom EMU will play against in the first round.

First Round Pairings

  • No. 1 Eastern Michigan versus No. 8 Central Michigan
  • No. 4 Northern Illinois versus No. 5 Ohio
  • No. 2 Western Michigan versus No. 7 IPFW
  • No. 3 Bowling Green versus No. 6 Akron

The men’s golf team will compete in the Earl Yestingsmeier Match Play, previously known as the Mid-American Match play, also hosted by BGSU. This tournament will take place at Lake Jovita Golf and Country Club, Fla.

At this two-day tournament, five MAC teams will compete in a 54 holes match play. EMU will be paired against Florida Atlantic in the first round.

  • No. 1 Eastern Michigan versus No. 8 Florida Atlantic
  • No. 4 Seton Hall versus No. 5 Ball State
  • No. 2 Miami (OH) versus No. 7 Ohio
  • No. 3 Toledo versus No. 6 Dayton

The first round will begin Monday at 8 a.m. with a shotgun start for both the men’s and women’s teams, followed by continuous play for the second round. The third and final round will be played Tuesday, Feb. 10, with an 8 a.m. shotgun start.
