Police blotter, Jan. 6

Dec. 21

During a traffic stop near Huron River Drive and Oakwood Street at 12:34 a.m., police noticed narcotic paraphernalia in the back seat of the vehicle. Police searched the car and did not find any more paraphernalia. The case will be handled by the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

Dec. 22

Contractors working at the Convocation Center reported stolen equipment at 12:48 p.m. The equipment was believed to be stolen between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Dec. 18. The police currently have no suspects.

A subject reported a stolen bicycle at 1:42 p.m. The bicycle was stolen from the Student Center at 1:42 p.m. The subject witnessed a suspect leaving with his bicycle. Police were unable to recover the bicycle.

Dec. 28

Police were called to Hamilton Street and I-94 about a vehicle collision with a curb and road sign at 5:55 a.m. When police arrived the driver was found to under the influence of alcohol and was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

During a traffic stop for a vehicle equipment violation near Washtenaw Avenue and Summit Road police smelled marijuana coming from the vehicle. After searching the vehicle, the driver was cited for possession of marijuana and cited for an equipment violation.

During a traffic stop near Ballard Street and Cross Street at 2:41 a.m. police noticed the smell of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After searching the vehicle police officers found narcotic paraphernalia. The driver also had an outstanding warrant out for his arrest. The case will be sent to the county prosecutor’s office.

Police stopped a vehicle after running a red light near Huron River Drive and Cornell Road at 9:21 p.m. Police noticed open intoxicants with the passenger in the vehicle. Both the driver and passenger were cited for the open intoxicants in a vehicle.

Jan. 1

Police attempted to pull a vehicle over for an equipment violation near Hamilton Street and Michigan Avenue at 12:15 a.m., but the driver fled the scene. Police did not pursue the vehicle.

During a traffic stop near Hamilton Street and Michigan Avenue at 9:13 p.m. police noticed narcotic paraphernalia in the back seat of the vehicle. After searching the vehicle narcotic paraphernalia was found and the driver and passenger were arrested on previous warrants.

Jan. 2

A custodian in Pittman hall reported a stolen coat at 2:39 p.m. Later, the custodian found a student wearing the coat and was able to recover the stolen item. The case is being sent to the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

During a traffic stop near Washtenaw Avenue and Kewanee at 9:26 p.m. the driver of the vehicle gave a false identity. The driver was found to be a minor in possession of alcohol and was cited for possession.
