The EMU men’s track and field team saw double duty Saturday as part of the team competed at the Harvey Invitational in Ann Arbor, while the remainder of the squad attempted to defend its home field at the EMU Quadrangular meet.
In total, EMU had five champions on the day and 10 top-four performances.
Aaron Dewberry won the long jump with a 6.57 meter/20 feet 7.25 inches leap. Anthony Jones decimated the field in the weight throw, winning the event with a throw of 19.83 meters/20 feet 7.25 inches—a full four and a half feet better than the nearest competitor.
“Despite a heavy week of training, the guys put together a solid competitive effort for us to build on,” coach John Goodridge said in a statement. “We are looking forward to next weekend’s scored six-way meet at Notre Dame.”
EMU hits the road Jan. 24, heading to South Bend, Ind., to compete in the Notre Dame Invitational.
