The Eastern Michigan women's basketball team ended its winning streak with a close loss to Oral Roberts University in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Saturday afternoon. The final score was 63-62.
Cha Sweeny again led the Eagles (5-3) in scoring, with 20 points. Teammates Phillis Webb and Shannise Heady also scored in the double digits, with Webb adding 11 points and Heady contributing 10. Webb also led in rebounds, grabbing eight off the boards against ORU.
Vicky McIntryre led in scoring for the Oral Roberts Golden Eagles, scoring 16 points and grabbing 15 rebounds.
The game stayed close and was a tough battle all the way through, with both teams holding leads of over seven points at one point or another. In the end, the Eagles struggled to make their shots fall, and were ultimately out-rebounded 54-46. The successful free-throw by ORU player Jordan Gilbert ended up being the deciding factor in the tight 63-62 victory over the Eagles.
The Eastern Eagles head home to the Convocation Center on Tuesday, Dec. 9, to take on the Madonna Crusaders (6-2).
