Police blotter, Nov 16

Monday, Nov. 10

During a traffic stop near LeForge Road and Green Road at 7:01 p.m., officers noticed the smell of marijuana coming from a vehicle. The driver, an Eastern Michigan University student, was found to be in possession of narcotic paraphernalia and marijuana. The marijuana has been sent for identification. The student was cited for possession of narcotics, possession of narcotic paraphernalia and was referred to the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

Officers were called to Pittman Hall at 10:59 p.m. to break up two female students arguing in the lobby of the residence hall. The two students were arguing about being roommates and housing. The Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards is handling the situation.

Tuesday, Nov. 11

A female student reported her backpack stolen from Halle Library at 12:05 a.m. The backpack was believed to be stolen from the library Nov. 10, around 11:45 p.m. Police officers were able to obtain a security video from when the crime occurred. Later that same day, another student reported a laptop stolen from Halle Library at 6:24 p.m. The laptop was believed to be stolen between 5:30 p.m. and 6:15 p.m. The suspect in the backpack larceny was the same suspect who police believe stole the laptop. After reviewing the video, police found and arrested the suspect. The backpack and laptop were recovered and the case was sent to the prosecutor’s office.

Police were called to Rynearson Stadium at 3:48 p.m. about a stolen bike. The bike was left at the stadium Thursday, Nov. 6, around 5 p.m. and when the owner returned Tuesday, Nov. 11, the bike was gone. The police currently have no suspects.

Police were called to Putnam Hall at 6:24 p.m. about a fight between two students. The students had been yelling until one of the students punched the other. The police broke up the fight and no criminal charges were filed. The students may face discipline under the Student Code of Conduct and Community Standards.

Police were called to Wise Hall about a report of an assault at 11:18 p.m. A female student reported being repeatedly assaulted by another female student. One of the assaults was believed to have occurred Tuesday, Nov. 11, around 3:30 p.m. Police are currently investigating the matter.

Wednesday, Nov. 12

A student reported unauthorized activity on their EagleOne card at 1:28 p.m. Upon further investigation police found the student’s suitemate had been using the card number. No charges were filed, but the case was sent to the Department of Student Conduct and Community Standards.

Thursday, Nov. 13

Sellers Hall resident staff reported damaged lobby furniture to police at 2:51 p.m. The damage was believed to have occurred between 12 a.m. and 2:45 p.m. Thursday Nov. 13. There are no suspects at this time.

Police stopped a car that had been reported stolen by the sheriff’s department near Huron River Drive and LeForge Road at 11:40 p.m. The driver of the vehicle denied the car was stolen. Police arrested the suspect and the case is being sent to the prosecutor’s office.
