Four date nights that will keep couples warm

Now that winter is here, most of us don’t want to leave our rooms. But with the holidays coming up it could be a good opportunity to cozy up to your loved one and spend some time together. Here are four fun date ideas that you and your special someone can enjoy during those cold winter nights.

1. Movie Night

Yes, watching a movie with your significant other is completely cliché, but there are little things you can do to make it a really amazing date night, especially if you're on a budget.

Take a bunch of pillows, cushions, and blankets and make a large pallet on the floor. This will create a more unique environment than just sitting on the couch. Turn on the fireplace or light some candles. The fire will make it warm, cozy, and romantic. Then, put a few snacks together like chocolate covered pretzels or strawberries instead of your typical popcorn.

Make a warm beverage like tea, cappuccinos, or hot coco.

Lastly, the movie choice – try to make it something you both can agree on. A holiday themed movie might be good around this time. If you don’t own many movies then look on Netflix or On Demand so you don't have to leave the house for a new movie.

2. Oasis Hot Tub Gardens

If you have a little more to spend on your date, then Oasis is a great place to try. Oasis has private hot tub rooms that have different themes such as the Borneo Rainforest, Singapore, Japan, and Fiji. Many rooms have an open roof and since it is all heated, you can enjoy the stars at night without being cold. The private rooms have a small changing area and a doc for you to hook up your own music to.

They also sell additional items like bottles of sparkling juice and salts to put in the water to give it a nice aroma. The closest Oasis is located at 2301 State St. in Ann Arbor, Mich. You can call and make reservations at (734) 663-9001. Their prices range from $40 to about $100 depending on the day and time you go as well as how long you want to stay for.

3. Ice Skating

If you are feeling a little more adventurous then take your date ice-skating. Even if you have never done it before, it could be a lot of fun to try to learn together. There are quite a few ice rinks in the area such as Buhr Park, Ann Arbor Ice Cube, and The Veterans Memorial Ice Arena which are all located in Ann Arbor.

If you don’t mind driving a little bit further away then you could try Campus Martius in Detroit. It is a very popular outdoor ice rink with a lot of beautiful lights and decorations if you go in the evening.

4. Museum

Another fun thing you can do for a warm date is visit a museum. There is the Ann Arbor Hands-On Museum and the University of Michigan Museum of Natural History. One of the most popular museums in Michigan is the Detroit Institute of Arts.

Also, if you are willing to drive out to the Detroit area, consider seeing the Motown Historical Museum in the original Hitsville USA building, the Henry Ford Museum, or the Michigan Science Center.
