The Eastern Michigan women’s basketball team lost Saturday to the University of Texas-Pan American, 81-75 after a late comeback by the Broncs.
Shannise Heady earned her first double-double of the season for the Eagles (1-2) with 20 points and 11 rebounds.
Cha Sweeney scored 15 points and Jamaica Bucknor added 12.
Shawnte’ Goff was the leading scorer for the Broncs (4-2) with 26 points.
Hild Kjrtanasdottir (16), Tonisha Walker (13) and T’Ondria Nolen (10) were also in double digits for UTPA.
Brittany Bush pulled down 13 rebounds.
After taking a 43-41 lead into halftime and leading by as much as eight points (49-41, 18:27 left) in the second half, the Eagles came apart in the final nine minutes.
The Broncs went on a 9-1 run and pulled away from there – leading by as much as nine points (76-67, 3:06 left) on the way to the six point victory.
Looking Ahead
The Eagles will return home for a matchup against Hillsdale College Tuesday night.
The Chargers (2-0) are coming off wins against Illinois University-Springfield and McKendree University last weekend.
Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Convocation Center
