Alexander Music Building Staircase Under Construction

Caution tape will block off the sidewalk between the back of Alexander Music Building and the side of Sill Hall as construction crews break down the old stairs and prepare to build a new entrance. This is a part of the ongoing improvements being made on campus.

EMU’s New Media Studies and Journalism degree will prepare future journalists for current market

Eastern will be offering a new major designed to better assist journalism students with the changing news media landscape. The major will start in fall 2015 and will be combining electronic film and media studies with journalism to match the demanding market for high-tech reporting.

Eastern adds three new police officers and extends patrol periods

Three new police officers were added to EMU’s Department of Public Safety. The increased staffing will bring DPS up to 43 police officers. This is part of EMU’s increased safety initiative, along with expanding the hours of SEEUS, a campus escort service, which is available to students and faculty as escorts when they are walking at night.

Last day to apply for Cellar Roots is Sunday, Oct. 12

Fantasy and supernatural submissions can be sent to cellarroots@easternecho.com, and are limited to 5 maximum submissions. The media can range from art and photography, poetry and short stories, music with typed lyrics and film that does not exceed 20 minutes from a YouTube or Vimeo page. Homecoming Ice Cream Social

Join fellow classmates at the Student Center Patio from noon to 1:30 p.m. for a special homecoming ice cream social. This is a free event and will take place Thursday, Oct. 9.

Carol Lei Breckenridge & Pablo Mahve-Veglia present The Cello Sonatas of Beethoven

Pianist Carol Lei Breckenridge and cellist Pablo Mahve -Veglia will perform classic masterpieces in Alexander Music Hall Thursday, Oct. 9, at 6 p.m. The event will be in the Organ Recital Hall.

Homecoming Stepshow

NPHC step show will use skits and scenes to create a new experience of dance 7 p.m. at the Bowen Field House. Tickets will be available for the event at http://www.emich.edu/convocation/emu-tickets/purchase-emu-tickets.html for $15.

EMU Football versus Buffalo

Eastern Eagles take on Buffalo at The Factory. Students get in for free Oct. 11. Tailgate events will be taking place along with the new game day experience. Non-students can purchase tickets for $12.
