EMU Homecoming
The campus theme for the 2014 Homecoming is “Building E Pride.” There will be daily activities up until the homecoming game against Buffalo Saturday. Some events include gallery exhibitions, contests and a block party. Select events will have a prize of free t-shirts for attending. No Limit Texas Hold’em Poker Tournament
Pizza and beverages will be provided and all skill levels are welcome at this event sponsored by the Olds Robb Rec/IM. The cost for entry is $4.00. The event is at 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7.
Homecoming T-shirt Exchange
Any students who want to help a local shelter, please bring in your gently used college or university t-shirts and you will receive a free EMU Homecoming T-shirt. This exchange will take place on the Student Center patio from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 8.
National Depression Screening Day
Free confidential screening for depression and anxiety. A questionnaire will determine the results and you will receive a free mood ring for completing the screening. The event will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Student Center, room 104 Thursday, Oct. 9.
Lyric Lounge: Open Mic Poetry Slam
Co-sponsored by the Poetry Society, students will be able to explore topics in the form of poems at an open poetry session. The event will take place at 9 p.m. to 11p.m. Thursday, Oct. 9.
Dr. Faustus at Quirk Theatre
Christopher Marlowe’s Dr. Faustus is a dark morality story, described as a tale where “a soul’s deepest desires may not survive its’ starkest reality.” The event costs $9.00 and tickets are available at emich.edu//convocation/emu-theatre-tickets.html for the event Friday, Oct. 10 at 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
