Women's basketball team to hold tryouts

The Eastern Michigan University athletic department announced Wednesday that the women’s basketball team would be holding open tryouts for the 2014-15 season.

There will be an informational meeting on Sept. 17 at 2:30 p.m. in the Eagle’s Nest of the Convocation Center. At the meeting, NCAA compliance and medical paperwork as well as medical requirements will be discussed.

Tryouts will be held on Sept. 24 in the auxiliary gym of the Convo. Students wishing to try out must attend the informational meeting, otherwise they will not be able to participate.

According to the athletic department, students must do the following before being allowed to try out:

- Bring proof of a medical physical by a physician within the last 6 months

- Bring proof of insurance

- Bring proof of sickle cell blood test results

- Be registered through the NCAA Initial-Eligibility Center at www.eligibilitycenter.org

- Be enrolled in at least 12 credit hours at the university.
