EMU soccer round-up for the week of September 1

The Eastern Michigan University soccer team hit the road for three games this past week. The Eagles went winless in three games, with a 0-2-1 record.

Megan Marsack (MSU): 1 goal, 1 Assist

Allyson Krause (MSU): 1 goal, 1 Assist

Rachel VanPoppelen (MSU): 1 goal

Courtney Clem (MSU): 5 saves

Jenna O’Dell (EMU): 3 saves

MSU took the lead early in the 15th minute of the game when Marsack scored off of a corner kick from Alexandra Gjonaj. This goal snapped a 194-minute scoreless streak by the Eagles’ defense.

MSU extended its lead in the 61st minute of the game when Allyson Krause found the back of the net to make it 2-0.

In the 78th minute of the game VanPoppelen was able to add to MSU’s lead and make it 3-0.

EMU’s Vultaggio recorded a team high 4 shots, while Bianca Rossi and Martha Stevens managed 2 shots each.

EMU got out to an early 1-0 lead when Vultaggio found the back of the net in the 5th minute of the game off a lead from Megan Trapp.

TTU was held scoreless until the 56th minute of the game when Rohmer scored and tied the game 1-1 and sent the game into overtime.

TTU jumped early in overtime and grabbed the win in the 93rd minute when Strahan scored.

EMU’s Bianca Rossi recorded a team high 5 shots in the game.

Megan McCabe (EMU): 9 saves

Abby Steele (Oregon): 3 saves

EMU grabbed the first goal in the 25th minute of the game when Marisa Kozikowski crossed a ball for Rossi who headed the ball into the back of the net. This goal by Rossi snapped a three game shutout streak by the ducks.

Oregon managed to sneak one in on to tie the game 1-1 in the 75th minute of the game when Sweatman headed the ball past McCabe.

The game went into overtime but strong defense from both teams kept the game knotted up at 1-1.
