Eastern Michigan University has hired Kenneth Dobson as the new executive director of government and community relations, effective Sept. 22. This decision is still pending approval by the Board of Regents.
Dobson, an EMU alumnus, succeeds Leigh Greden, who left the university to become Congressman John Dingell’s chief of staff.
In his new position, Dobson will be responsible for representing the university in all aspects of government and community relations and maintaining legislative networks, according to a statement by EMU today.
President Susan Martin said Dobson “brings an outstanding level of government and community relations experience” to EMU.
Before joining the university, Dobson spent 11 years serving as director of governmental relations for the Ambassador Bridge Company. He has more than 17 years of experience in legislature, public policy, community relations and governmental affairs.
Reporting directly to Dobson in the government and community relations office will be Chad Wing, who was named director of state and federal relations in 2010. Dobson’s annual salary will be $125,000.
