Former Eastern Michigan University football standout Kalonji Kashama was signed Monday by the Detroit Lions of the National Football League, after participating in a rookie mini-camp earlier in the spring.
Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press first announced the signing Monday morning.
The defensive end played 35 games for Eastern from 2011-13 and recorded a total of 90 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss and 73 sacks. He also forced four fumbles.
Kashama was also drafted 27th overall by the Ottawa RedBlacks in the 2013 Canadian Football League draft.
He joins former Eagle Jason Jones on Detroit’s roster.
