Eastern Michigan University hired Chris Creighton to be its new football coach in December and the fruits of his labors are already beginning to show with Monday’s announcement of three players to Mid-American Conference preseason teams by MAC blogger Phil Steele.
Senior tight end Tyreese Russell and senior offensive lineman Lincoln Hansen were named to the first team while senior running back Bronson Hill was named to the third team.
Russell was the team’s leading receiver in 2013, starting all 12 games and pulling down 44 catches for 594 yards and three touchdowns.
Hansen also started all 12 games for the EMU offense that gained 1,896 rushing yards and 2,137 passing yards.
Hill only started seven games for the Eagles last season, but still managed to cross the 1,000-yard mark on the ground. He was the first Eagle to reach that milestone since Anthony Sherrell did it in 1996.
